Welcome to Clocktower Cellar
"Well, show me the way to the next Whiskey Bar"
The Doors, Alabama Song (Whiskey Bar), 1967
Ask just about anyone to show you the way to Mammoth Lakes’ favorite local hangout and you’ll have your answer in no time flat: the Clocktower Cellar. Located across from the Village Gondola in a cozy spot underneath the Alpenhof Lodge’s clock tower.
Owned and operated by brothers Kirk and Robert Schaubmayer. The Clocktower has been part of the Mammoth Lakes bar scene since 1993. It started as a tavern just serving beer and wine. Needing an angle, Kirk and Robert kept adding taps till they ran out of room. The draft selection topped out at 31 until the day came when they acquired a different license enabling them to sell spirits. To make room for that they lost 5 taps but gained over 160 selections of whiskey. Not a bad trade…….
Whether you consider yourself a casual sipper, a devoted connoisseur or just wanting to learn about our favorite brown liquor, we have something to offer you. Start with what makes us famous: over 160 whiskies, 26 beers on tap, and over 50 beers by the bottle from around the world served up by a staff of friendly barkeeps who’ll be your guide if the selection seems a bit overwhelming. If whiskey isn’t your thing, no need to fret. You can choose from 26 draught beers, over 50 bottled brews, wine by the glass or a decent selection of tequila, vodka and rum.
If you’re hungry, we can take care of that too. Our menu features house made hearty comfort food favorites like burgers, sandwiches, fish tacos, “totchos” and creative daily specials.
The Clocktower Cellar is open nightly, seven days a week. Monday-Thursday, 5p-11p, Saturday 4p-11p, Sunday 9:30a-11p. Happy Hour till 7 p.m. daily.
